Observation units are objects that are subject to instances of observation and measurement.
For example, in a study, each living entity (animal or plant), bioreactor or area studied is a single observation unit. In other words, when using 2x3 bioreactors (control/test) in your experimental design. Each individual reactor is a single observation unit from which samples are taken. Additional metadata fields can be added to capture differences in the observational units. It is advised that static observation unit specific information is recorded at this level.
For example `date of birth`, `start date of the fermentation` and other fixed conditions but not metadata elements that are subject to change such as pH, Height, Age.
